Amsterdam, Netherlands

This is the first painting that Vincent van Gogh made after he arrived in the small town of Arles, in the south of France. He painted it in the Carrel hotel and restaurant, which was across the street from the butcher. Van Gogh stayed in this hotel for the first few months of his stay in Arles.

There is snow on the street and the sun is shining, making the street sparke. On the shop front, the name 'Reboul Charcutier' is visible. On the right of the shop window, sausages have been hung to dry.
