Concert by Viktoria Mullova in Holland Festival 2010.
World famous violinist Viktoria Mullova knew from a young age that Bach’s music would play a major role in her life, yet she was never happy with her Bach interpretations. Only after she had defected to the West in 1983 and came into contact with baroque specialists such as Harnoncourt and Gardiner, did she discover a new way of playing Bach’s music. Her recent cd with Bach’s sonatas and partitas for unaccompanied violin can be regarded as the pinnacle of this new approach, and is widely applauded for its virtuoso and imaginative interpretations. At the Holland Festival Mullova will play a selection of these works. It’s a unique opportunity to come and watch one of the greatest violinists in the world in the intimate space of the Zaha Hadid Architects Pavilion.
