Villa Giulia:"….and Santa Rosalia"

Fondazione Napoli Novantanove

The first, made by me in the school’s dolphin section, tells of the genius Palermo, genius loci of the city, of which at Villa Giulia one of the most impressive and articulated marble statues is kept.
The other, created by the teacher Giusi Gandolfo in the section of seahorses, is about Santa Rosalia, a Norman princess.
Palermo and Rosalia represent two aspects of a single feeling of devotion that have merged over time until they are both portrayed in places of strategic civic importance (such as City Town hall). The adoption of Villa Giulia in the current school year will allow us to make research and explain the sacred and profane aspects of the very ancient religious traditions of our city.
