Photograph of an aspect of the landscape that sprawls in the valley of the Souto stream, adjacent to the village of Pegarinhos, next to the Magusteiro bridge (1867). On the surrounding slopes, between the places of Detrás da Serra and Costa, small plots of terraced vineyards are preserved, some of which are pre-phylloxera, between patches of pine forest. Closer to the stream, the vineyard persists associated with other crops, such as the olive tree, the almond tree, scattered fruit trees and vegetable gardens, forming a rich patchwork, whose diversity is accentuated by the paths and delimitation walls and constructions of support to the agricultural activity. The vines grow on granite and gneiss soils. The terraces are supported by granite walls, a stone that abounds here. Although in the flatter areas the walls are low, at the top they reach 3 meters, gaining monumentality. It should be noted that here the vine trellising structure uses, in addition to the traditional schist pillars, granite pillars or tree branches. Given the proximity of the stream and the need to irrigate the different crops, irrigation channels (of granite or excavated in the ground) and water storage tanks were built.
