Long Description: "Viola d'amore is a free form of Viola da Gamba and is set up with seven playing strings and seven sympathetic strings. While the viola was played, the symphatetic strings, tuned in octave higher, resonated and produced a characteristic, romantic sound. The instrument was most likely given the name "d'amore" because of its precious sound and Cupid's blindfolded head, a symbol of love." (dr. Darja Koter)
