One of the most notable aspects of the Museu Episcopal de Vic's sculpture collection is the richness of its series of Marian imagery, as beyond the meaning and the interest that each of the images of the Virgin may have individually, the group as a whole offers a broad representation of types and variants, and also quite a clear view of the evolution of the iconography of the Virgin between the Romanesque and Gothic periods. Notice, for example, a detail of this image: the small bird that the child Jesus holds by one wing and which pecks his finger. It is a detail quite frequent among the Gothic images of the Virgin that we can find also in other pieces in the Museum, with slight variations. We see it in the Virgin of Boixadors, which we have just commented upon, and it is also present in the Virgin MEV 10640 that is displayed near this one. Before that we could have seen it in the seated image MEV 450 and also in another piece already commented upon, the Virgin MEV 63.
