Authorities act to hinder the progress of women’s football. Even though there was a decree-law forbidding women from practicing sports that “go against the feminine nature”, there is evidence that matches between women spread throughout Brazil. Women’s football was officially forbidden by CBD (now CBF – Brazilian Football Confederation) in 1969 and only became official in 1983.
