Rajeev Lochan’s works are characterized by his use of monochromatic photographs that have been painted on, giving the subject a new dimension. The photographic image becomes a takeoff point which he then transforms into his own personalized idiom. The general theme surrounding his work is man in search of utopia. He creates images of isolation even in chaos, and presents undercurrents of chaos even in silence. Such scenes have been diligently delineated by him through a very private view point.
