The network of nature trails in forest belt along the six hiking trails offers a spectacular scenic beauty of the natural montane forest. Visitors ascending via Umbwe, Machame, Londorosi and Lemosho trails descend via Mweka trail. However, those climbing up Rongai [Nalemuru] trail, descend on Marangu trail. Marangu trail is for both ascent and descent. Marangu route is considered the easiest and has been nicknamed the Coca Cola route whilst Umbwe is regarded as the toughest thus nicknamed the Whisky route.
