Voodoo Deity Figure

One of the shrines of the Voodoo hospital in Togo houses Gabara, a popular female deity who is frequently consulted by the lovesick, particularly women suffering from broken hearts. This deity figure receives offerings of cigarettes, gin, kola nuts and perfume − substances believed to excite her to release her healing powers more quickly.
