Onizuka Yoshikuni was a swordsmith in the Tanagura domain. He most likely moved to the Yanagawa domain following the feudal lord of the Tanagura domain, Muneshige’s transfer.
This wakizashi sword was created when the first head of the Onizuka school, Yoshikuni, was in his forties. The hamon (blade pattern) is in the suguha (straight) style, which shows a characteristic of the Onizuka school.
