Lyles Station was founded in the mid-19th century as part of a migratory movement of thousands of African Americans from the upper South to the Old Northwest Territory states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin, to stake their claim to land, territory, and freedom. The Lyles family used this original 19th C. plow on their farmland.
