Watch is a kinetic piece, in which sensors are built. These sensors set of a neck that turns to follow the visitor as he/she moves through the space. With the theme of 'communication with viewers', this work depicts scenes of 'watching the enemy', keeping one’s own territory, and exploring waves in the air. This work borrows its 'motif' from the famous stance of the meerkat standing on its hind legs to watch its enemies. Like a plant stem, the artist puts a steel bar into a flower vase-like structure, and a tiny monitor is set on its end. This work as a whole looks like a flower in vase. Appearing in the monitor are shots, featuring the world around the vase, and diverse life scenes from around the globe. Hwang, Jung In (Curator)
