The landscape with the motif of people depicted skillfully around the girth of the jar emerges in vivid blue color and its elegant sentiment can be felt. Blue-and white porcelain (Sometsuke), because of the cool impression which this blue color gives was favored as a summer tea utensil from ancient times. “Ko-sometsuke”, because Japan especially ordered it from China to be used as tea utensils, works such as this one were, without saying, especially valued.
