The water pipe consists of five basic parts: a glass bottle, in this case painted, which contains the water; the neck; the tobacco bowl where the tobacco and coal are placed; the hose, whose shape has remained unchanged to this day, but which is now mostly made from plastic; and finally the wooden mouthpiece with an easily replaced plastic end piece for the individual smokers. Also required for operation is a pair of tongs, not included here, which is used to place the glowing coal on the tobacco.
