Lui has taken a purist approach to reduce the art of painting to its origin. It shifts the focus from "what is the artist's painting?" to "what is painting?", which is a direct reflection of the artist's outlook on life. Looking closely at the lines of colour and their various tones and hues, one can almost "sense" the existence of the features of a landscape - water, mountains, landforms and all. It is an artistic experience more about metaphysical than figurative perceptions. Between the thick and thin lines is a spiritual space that the artist invites his audience to roam and share.
