From the Artist: When I retired from practicing law, I took up watercolor painting as a hobby. Having also worked as a scientist in the past I became drawn to the structural beauty and detail of botanical painting. During the pandemic, my son asked if he could have a small wedding in my backyard in the Spring. I decided to help celebrate this important moment in Jewsih life by painting a Ketubah for the couple. A Ketubah is a Jewish marriage contract, given by the groom to his bride on their wedding day. It is one of the oldest legal documents that gives financial and legal rights to women. While benign homebound for most of this winter, it brought me great joy to combine my background in law, my interest in botanical painting and my great love for my son and future daughter-in-law, by creating this labor of love which gave me a wonderful event to look forward to during these dark times.
