The "Valuation of the property belonging to the miner Heinrich Gottschall residing at Jaegersfreude, St. Johannerstraße No. 31" from 13 June 1902 illustrates with an elevation, floor plan and building description how modest a typical miner's home was still designed at the turn of the century from the 19th to the 20th century. The special feature of this plan is that the house of the miner Gottschall is not a premium or estate house in close proximity to the pit, but instead is an individual detached house in Saarbrücken. The floor plan of the single-storey house with attic has no space for a toilet. It is to be expected that a small toilet in a wooden building was used in the garden or courtyard area on the property measuring just 319 square metres.
