Choreographer: Hans van Manen

Van Manen created 'Wet Desert' in the short period of two weeks, in celebration of the opening of Nederlands Dans Theater’s new theater: the Danstheater aan ‘t Spui (now known as the Lucent Danstheater) in 1987. In the ballet, Van Manen used video to expand the view of the audience. The ballet did not only take place on stage, but backstage as well, eventually ending with the dancers taking a dive in the building’s pool. Van Manen made use of film to present the building to the audience in a unique way.
