Like our own funeral

On the occasion of the closure of the last mine in the Saarland on 30 June 2012, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung released this video on their website on 29 June 2012. The recordings from the Saar mine show the everyday work of miners. Historical photographs surrounding mining operations in the Saarland are also shown. In background voiceovers, miners recount their personal experiences and, primarily, their feelings regarding the closure of the last mine.
