Wilwatikta is a symbol of the Majapahit Empire (13-15 BC), a maritime empire which at that time was the largest empire in Southeast Asian history.

There are eight types of Jamu concoctions, in accordance with the eight corners of the Surya Majapahit symbol which represent the eight ordinal directions. Each variant also has a philosophical history that describes human's maturity with an eight years cycle.
