Wine set (glass)

c. 1750–1800

Wine sets that survive with their original glasses, decanter, and tray are rare. This set is also noteworthy because of its elaborate use of painted gilt decoration in the Spanish taste. The tray is further ornamented with a scalloped and lobed rim. To create this complicated shape, the hot glass was blown into a metal or wooden mold.
