Museo Diocesano Tridentino
Trento, Italy

The altarpiece was commissioned by Udalrico Kneusl, in charge of the church of Sant’Anna in Sopramonte (Trento), to be positioned on the Battuti confraternity’s altar. The prelate had himself portrayed inside the chest, kneeling next to the group of the Coronation of the Virgin. On the sides of the chest, there is a bishop saint (possibly Ulrich, the donor’s patron), on the left, and a queen saint (Helen?) on the right, while inside the doors two apostles (Philip? and James the Greater) and two martyr saints (Agatha and Agnes) are portrayed. Inside the doors, the Annunciation is portrayed.
