Byung Sun Min paid special attention to gold thread. Gold thread was made in two ways; by spreading golden plate thin and cutting it thin, or by curling thin golden plate around the thread. Usually, gold thread is so thick that it makes holes on the textile, making sewing and embroidery difficult. To solve this problem, gold thread was placed on the fabric and then was use embroidered using crunching stitch with, mostly, red thread. Embroidered coat for older women (百壽文袍) was made by embroidering the Chinese character longevity (壽) in different forms with gold thread using couching stitch on black satin. Min used gold metal thread and glossy rayon or silk to represent the unique color on the coat. Min expressed her affection for life, in particular, with the red color that comes through her artwork.
