The blouse of this female costume from Ibiza is of home-made linen and has embroidered cuffs. The arms are covered with false wool sleeves with silver buttons, that are displayed apart in the showcase for conservation purposes. The dress with bodice that imitates a very old pattern, is known as a gonella and is complemented with a black apron embroidered in coloured silk on a yellow background and a wool scarf patterned with flowers and birds. The headdress consists of a cambuix or printed cotton wimple with a red trim, and a large black felt hat. The hat to match this dress still has its inner label with the name of the vendor written on it, Jaime Roig, from Palma de Mallorca. It is said that headdresses such as the one shown here, with a red border, were distinctive of the single women on the island.
