Trombita is a kind of horn, made from a branch that is cut along in two halves, then each is hollowed, and finally both are put back together with the help of pitch and metal and bast hoops. formerly used as a signal instrument (mainly in herding); since 19th c. used during Advent and watchnight service on Christmas Eve, nowadays as part of folk revival.
