Islamic art made for the Mughal dynasty of South Asia (1526-1857) is renowned for its elegant floral, animal, and courtly imagery. Such motifs exerted a strong impact on art made throughout India and still do to this day. European consumers also appreciated Mughal imagery and it was often featured on objects made in India for Western markets. Purchased in London in 1937.
