WWI Memorial Design Competition

Walking towards the World War I memorial, your immediate sensation is that you have reached a unique urban space. From East you cross "General Pershing Square", a wide, open Plaza, where people can gather for ceremonies, observances, and other public events.
The green walls delimiting the path, guide us to the "trench". This sense of enclosure on the path invite us to quiet contemplation, to individual meditation.
