With 'Vanishing Twin', Jiří Kylián was inspired by the medical phenomenon of the same name, whereby during the pregnancy of twins, one fetus displaces the other until the latter disappears completely. The ballet symbolizes temporariness, suppressed emotions, and the dark side we all share, but would rather not reveal.
