Yaks live between 2000 and 5000 metres of altitude. These impressive mammals, adapted to the Himalayan environment, and can carry loads over 120kg and females give milk. Their long caravans allow the trade of many products in the most remote regions of the Himalayas. The number of domestic yaks is estimated at 12 million.
