Benevolent association members who failed to contribute to the well-being of the organization and fellow members faced consequences. This notice instructed a member of the Young and True Friends Association to attend a meeting "to settle indebtedness, or to be dealt with according to Article 6 Sec. 1, in the By-Laws of the Constitution." That section stated that any member owing 75 cents would be notified and if the debt was not paid within thirty days, that member would be dropped from the roll.
