Young Men and Women Outdoors

Unknownabout 1460 - 1470

The stylish and elaborate clothes worn by these young people as they stroll about reveal the artist's fondness for the details of court life. The tree in the center of the illumination effectively isolates the woman in blue from a large group, which can be seen again in the distant background to the right. The initials in the decorated border below, perhaps a C, an X, and a Y, are difficult to distinguish and identify, but they likely hold the key to the identity of the unknown patron of the manuscript.
