The Kifweube mask (above cloth) of the Sangwa are some of Africa’s most famous masks. It’s abstract and Cubist from inspired early modern artists including Picasso and the “Cubists” among others. The Tsaye, a sub-group of the Bateke, wore the moon shaped masks. The design of this mask also inspired many of the modern artists of the 20th Century.
