Zhang Daqian presented this painting to Wang Yufeng in the 1940s. It is included in an album in Wang's collection of twenty-nine paintings and calligraphy, completed mostly between 1943 and 1947.

Zhang was born in Neijiang (in Sichuan province), was a renowned painter who enjoyed worldwide acclaim. He held frequent solo exhibitions of his calligraphy and paintings in Hong Kong in the 1950s and 1960s. His paintings are featured in many art books and his writings were complied posthumously intro volumes including Collected Poetry and Prose of Zhang Daqian.
