Zoe Zoberski, BA Fashion Womenswear, Cristóbal Balenciaga Museum Project Design

Originally inspired by Balenciaga's own immigration from Spain to France, I took my families experience of immigrating from Japan to the United States and the forced americanization which took place as a result. During this transition they were given new names, experienced severe racism, and endured the internment camps, all which made it increasingly difficult to hold onto their culture while trying to live in the westernized world compelled to change them.
