MADRID 08/11/1936. Soldiers frrom the 'Commune de Paris' battalion, part of the 11th brigade of the International Brigades arrive to Madrid. The soldiers, wearing French Alpine black berrets and British leather lames, have received orders from Vicente Rojo, Chief of the General Staff of the Spanish Armed Forces, to reinforce their positions. This decision has been made after finding out the plans of Nationalist commander, general Jose Enrique Varela, to mainly attack Republican positions at Ciudad Universitaria, on the outskirts of the Spanish capital.
