£1,000 Banknote Design

A design for a one thousand (£1000) banknote. The design shows a central block of text with mythological vignette next to a conjoined profile of William and Mary. On either side is a column with Britannia standing holding a spear, shield and olive branch.

This design was produced by a sub-committee on banknote design set up 1838. 9 other variations were produced.
