In the lead-up to Ural Music Night the street artists of the festival "Stenograffia" taught a fence to sing "Italian Polka" by Rachmaninoff. To hear the music you just need to download a free MusicNight app to your mobile phone and point a camera at the art installation.

The MusicNight app is a revival of the Soviet technology which is based on sound synthesis from its graphic. It reads special tags and plays everything between them.

According to its authors, with the help of digital technologies we can hear the sound of urban streetscape, and its minor flaws can become artwork. The pattern on the fence, combined with visible defects and gaps between wooden planks, creates a sound track and thus the fence turns into classical music.
