Jacket and Outer Vest for a Male God

Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles

Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles
Bangkok, Thailand

Surviving examples from the late 19th and 20th centuries, such as the one shown in the adjacent gallery, demonstrate the earlier practice of making a single garment look like a sleeveless or short-sleeved vest worn over a long-sleeved jacket. For this production, however, the jacket and vest are separate garments as they would have been in the regalia made for royalty.
