This is a notebook recording “manufacturing production methods of Isehan-honten in 1934” by Ryuemon Sawada (later the sixth proprietor, Kamenosuke Sawada). The raw materials used for cosmetics including two-tone lipstick, creamy rouge, cheek rouge, and eyebrow powder (pencil) were recorded in detail.
The section “The Eyebrow Pencil” describes formulas using carbon black, white petroleum jelly, white wax, solid paraffin, and prepared fragrance. The section “The Eyebrow Powder” describes formulas using carbon black and soot, while the section “The Eyebrow Powder Sheet” describes formulas using carbon black and olive oil.
