(3) Zoku (bundles of linen fiber) is soaked in the beni-eki several times until it is dyed with the red pigment. Linen fiber has the property of absorbing and desorbing only red pigment. For this reason, using zoku is indispensable to extract high-purity beni that does not contain yellow pigment or other residues.
