This work depicts the Buddhist deity Fudo Myo-o (Acala), sitting in front of an aura of raging flames with a sword in his right and a rope in his left hand, and in front of him, his two attendants Kongara-doji and Seitaka-doji. In the round inside the fire one can also see Karura, a bird-headed creature in Indian mythology that feeds on dragons. Myo-o is said to be a mutation of Dainichi Buddha (Vairocana) with a boundless sense of charity, qujite in contrast to his scary appearance. According to estimates the work was made in the 14th century.
