Jin-silk Hat with Flowering Trees and Confronted Deer in Beaded Floral Fan

The crown of this jin-silk hat was sewn together with six round-cornered triangle-shaped patches and its rim was made of the same textile with the crown. With the general picture of the decorative pattern on the hat unrecognizable due to severe fraying of the fabric, it is conjectured that the main ornament on the hat should be a beaded floral fan, in the center of which erects a flowering tree flanked by two standing deer, whose front hoofs raise up and rest on the tree. Above the tree there are beasts running towards each other.
Thirty-five silk tapes were sewn along the seam between the crown and the rim. They are evenly distributed, with each four light beige strips alternating with one dark brown one. While all the dark brown strips and some of the light beige ones were made of gauze with inconspicuous lozenge patterns, some other beige tapes were cut out of ling, a monochromatic silk twill.
