“Huang Chang Ti Cou” Image 1

“Huang Chang Ti Cou” is a special funeral meant for emperors only in ancient China. “Huang Chang” refers to cypress, the kind of wood selected, whose inner part is yellow, while “Ti Cou” stands for the structure by which the heads of the wood (the cross sections facing the root) were put together towards the inner part. So the ancient people used wood instead of bricks to build a wall around the coffin.
