This wedding dress applied gold or silver couching embroidery as well as padded applique embroidery, both of which are traditional Chinese embroidery techniques. In gold or silver couching embroidery, the target areas on the foundation fabric would first be carpeted with gold or silver threads, which are then fixed by stitches with super thin silk threads; while applying padded applique embroidery technique, the craftsmen would first draw patterns they want on the foundation fabric, then put underneath the fabric paper, cloth, silk threads, cotton wadding, etc, with choices made based on the intended heights of bulges, and finally stitch with colored threads to create a relief-style pattern. Stitches on this dress are neatly- and densely-arranged, unveiling the ingenious skills of the creator.
