Hiroshima, Japan

As the news on the enormity of the A-bomb tragedy and the suffering of the survivors spread throughout Japan and around the world, Hiroshima received various forms of assistance even from abroad. It included the donation of medical supplies soon after the bombing, construction of houses, and aid to children who lost their families. The Schmoe House, American Floyd Schmoe constructed with Japanese volunteers, has been reborn as a gallery in which to tell the stories of people who reached across the sea to help Hiroshima after the atomic bombing.
