Iron-glazed vases for a Buddhist altar, Seto ware

This rare pair of vases was found as a pair, excavated from kiln remains. They embody the masterful technique of appliqué in their raised flower decoration on the surfaces. These date to around the time iron glaze was newly introduced in Seto.
