Bead embroidery technique, by which pearls, coral beads, glass beads, gem beads, etc., are used as main materials, was applied to the patterns on the front of this forehead band. Beads would first be made into strings by bearable threads and then strings used as lines to form patterns fixed onto the fabric with occasionally occurring stitches. Generally speaking, every eight to ten beads need a stitch in sections of straight lines while every single bead needs a stitch to fix in corners. Before glass beads were invented, white pearls or red coral beads were usually adopted as the highlight of the patterns. The area of beads in embroideries keeps growing and even covers the whole fabric after the invention of glass beads. On this item well-arranged glass beads cover the entire fabric ground, creating an eye-catching splendid relief-like effect in light.
