The"glancing back"deer

This Haniwa deer was not unearthed from an ancient tomb,but rather from the actual kiln in which it was fired. It may have been that the ceiling of the tunnel-like kiln collapsed during the firing process,or that this Haniwa was a failure and therefore left in the kiln.
