Iron glazed incense case with split lid, Seto ware

The body is covered with thick iron glaze. The half-melted glaze gives the skin a hard and rough bubbled texture. The unglazed bottom shows reddish base clay and a spiral mark which is created when the pottery is separated from the wheel with a string. The split lid is coated with lacquer.
